C-MAP Norway approved as one of the first “Certified NOAA ENC Value Added Distributor”

From December 1st, 2005 C-MAP Norway was certified as a NOAA ENC Value Added Distributor.

With the US ENCs added to the C-MAP Official ENC Service,

C-MAP Norway once again proves to be the leading supplier of Official ENCs on the global market place.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), conducts research and gathers data about the global oceans, atmosphere, space, and sun, and applies this knowledge to science and service. NOAA's National Ocean Service is composed of ten program and staff offices, one of which is the Office of Coast Survey.

The Office of Coast Survey (OCS) is the U.S. nautical chart maker. Established by President Thomas Jefferson in 1807, the Office of Coast Survey is the oldest U.S. scientific organization and has a long history of supporting and facilitating marine commerce. Today, it continues to promote safe navigation, meet the challenges of navigating larger ships and those that carry hazardous cargo, and provide data for geographic information system (GIS) analysis, coastal stewardship, management decisions, shoreline change analysis, and marine boundary issues. The Office completed the evaluation of C-MAP Norway’s application for certification as a “Certified NOAA ENC Value Added Distributor” with the commencement date of December 1, 2005.

C-MAP Norway, established in 1993 as a digital chart manufacturer, now provides navigators around the world with all nautical information necessary for safe navigation. The company’s strategy is based on the two-sided co-operation with national Hydrographic Offices on one hand, and the ECDIS and ECS manufacturers as well as their end users on the other.

“C-MAP Norway is the authorised distributor of official ENC (Electronic Navigational charts) that holds the largest portfolio of official ENC data. With the latest contribution of ENC from NOAA, C-MAP Norway is now approved to supply official ENCs produced by 34 Hydrographic Offices. In fact no other suppliers of official ENCs are able to offer the same quantity”, states Marketing Manager Willy Zeiler at C-MAP Norway.

“The DNV type approved SENC distribution of official C-MAP ENCs secures that chart data is easily and safe installed in the ECDIS or ECS. Further the C-MAP Real Time Updating service enable end users to update their official ENCs on line using e-mail or Internet. This significantly simplifies the updating process, which now can be carried out quickly, accurately, and securely on the spot wherever you are. Meaning that the official ENCs received from C-MAP will maintain the official status in accordance with the carry requirement regulations for official ENCs” concludes Mr. Zeiler.
